At Player One Universe, we have been using large language model (LLM) tools and AI technology more and more in the last two years. My co-founder IndieNoNo and I started with the idea to create a way for those with ownership of secure digital avatars to interact and play in a virtual world. A world that is connected to other worlds that we call “miniverses”. These miniverses provide a lot of the utility of a Discord room but with the visual appeal of an online virtual environment.

Creating such a digital environment is a gargantuan amount of work on many fronts. Consider the amount of art, design, 3D textures, game scripting, and network programming required to build such an environment.

Will teams in the future use AI tools to create more creative platforms with smaller teams and fewer resources? We think the answer is yes, and P1U (Player One Universe) is on the cutting edge of this technology. Here are a few ways:

AI as a Hyper Accelerator

Beyond social media, we use AI as a “hyper accelerator” for all sorts of tasks — drafting website copy, brainstorming new product ideas, planning roadmaps and strategy, and even coding assistance. The AI allows our lean team to rapidly prototype and iterate by augmenting our capabilities.

Social Media

We rely heavily on AI language models to draft social media posts, engagement prompts, and community updates across our channels like Twitter, Discord, and our blog. The AI allows us to rapidly ideate and publish a high volume of content while maintaining a consistent brand voice. While we have talented human artists and designers on our team, we also utilize AI image generation models like DALL-E to create visuals for social posts, merchandise designs, and more. We even created an entire “AI influencer” persona named Heka that we use for promoting P1U with AI-generated art and storytelling.

Art Asset Pipelines, NPC Personalities, and Digital Guards Within a Virtual World

For our actual metaverse product, we use AI across the entire art pipeline — generating concept art, textures, 3D models, character rigs, and more. The AI also helps craft unique personalities, backstories, and dialogue for non-player characters (NPCs) that inhabit the virtual worlds. We even employ AI “digital guards” that can patrol the spaces and enforce community guidelines.

Pitching Ideas and Brainstorming Process

Quick Ideas to Reality: The creative process is dramatically accelerated using AI brainstorming and ideation tools. We can rapidly iterate on new world concepts, gameplay mechanics, narrative storytelling and more by leveraging the AI’s ability to turn rough prompts into fleshed-out proposals in seconds.

Our 2D to 3D Art to Secure Avatar Technology

The core technology behind P1U is our proprietary AI system that converts 2D NFT artwork into standardized 3D avatar models that can inhabit the metaverse spaces. As detailed in our whitepaper, this complex process relies on advanced AI upscaling, modeling, and rigging algorithms.

AI Autonomous Systems

While humans control the overarching vision and creative direction, we utilize AI autonomous systems for tasks like procedurally generating landscapes, building layouts, and crafting dynamic in-world events and behavior within the metaverse spaces. This allows for more dynamic, ever-evolving virtual worlds.

As P1U continues pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the metaverse, AI and prompt engineering will be critical tools powering our ability to create immersive, genre-defining experiences. The virtual worlds of the future will merge the talents of human designers and AI working in symbiosis.
